Nanjie (Chinese: 南街村; pinyin: Nánjiē Cūn) is a village under the administration of the town of Chengguan [zh], Linying County, Henan.[1][2] It is widely reported as being the last Maoist village in China, and has attracted considerable global attention due to its unique political and economic system.[3][4][5][6] The village has an area of 1.78 square kilometres (0.69 sq mi),[7] and has about 3,400 permanent residents as of 2011.[5]
If you live in Nan Jie, you get a card that shows citizenship and you just go to the store and get what you need. First thing in the morning, people unite to sing songs. It’s very fascinating – here’s a video about the place. It’s very different; sounds like it works for the most part too. Here’s another video about it. I’ve reviewed one other variety that comes from this little city which I wasn’t too fond of, but the place has been fascinating to me. Let’s try this one!
Nan Jie Cun Peking Spicy Instant Noodle – China
Detail of the packaging (click to enlarge). Looks to be meatt free but check for yourself. To prepare, add everything to 400ml boiling water and cover 3 minutes. Finally, stir and enjoy!

Finished (click to enlarge). Added pork, scallion, sesame seed, crushed red pepper. Noodle is light and very springy – nice thin gauge. The broth is a little spicy and has a lightly spicy and savory flavor, leaning on saltiness but not overly so. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. EAN bar code 6904417010970.
